U8 - Recap of June 28th's game
The U8 Pottsgrove
boys
baseball team rallied in the top of the 6th
inning to beat E. Norriton 11-8. The boys were down 8-7 going
into the 6th and strung together a hitting display to
score 4 runs. The defense held up in the bottom of the 6th
retiring the hard hitting
East Norriton in order not allowing a runner to reach
base. After giving up 7 runs in the first 2 innings the defense
held on only allowing 1 run in the final 4 innings. The bats
were alive all night for Pottsgrove which improved their record
to 4-0 in the tournament. "The boys were never out of it, they
hung in all night and decided they would win this game". "Our
coaches and parents could not be more proud of these boys".
Pottsgrove hit the ball hard all night. The boys advance to the
semi finals tonight against the Oreland Bulldogs at Cole Manor
Elementary School . The Bulldogs are also 4-0.

PGLL ALUMNI UPDATE
Nathan Fretz and Matt
Wehr both are current
players on the
Pottsgrove Jr. & Sr.
Legion teams. They were selected to
represent the Berkshire
Baseball 15u All Star
Team
on July 8 at the
Reading Phillies Stadium.
The game was against
Jeff Potter's 15u All
Star Team that is
traveling to 14
different cities over
the month of July. The
game was played with
wood bat.
Both teams
will be hosting a clinic
and a car wash
on July 9 in
Reading.
Jeff Potter wrote the
book "What Ever
Happened
to Baseball" and will be
at the game to get his
message out - How He
Plans to Save Baseball.
The
following is some
information on the tour.
Potter Baseball Tour
Every once in a
while, every
blue moon, an
idea comes
around that when
you hear it, you
wonder why it
hasn’t been done
before. It just
seems so
natural, so fun,
and so right.
Every once in a
while, we all
just shake our
heads and wonder
how we could all
miss the
obvious, the
thing that is
right in front
of our eyes, the
proverbial
“can’t see the
forest through
the trees”.
It’s time for
all of us to
take that step
back, and look
from a distance.
For the first
time, perhaps
ever, look at
the game of
baseball the way
it was meant to
be played. Put
down the jugs
gun and the
metal bats;
replace them
with inspiration
and motivation.
Instead of
coaches calling
the pitches,
have them enjoy
watching the
players figure
out what pitch
to throw.
Instead of
coaches being
the main
attraction on
the field, let
them be in the
shadow, allowing
the game to be
played like it
should be
played; by the
players.
It’s time for
the coaches to
be men of
character,
discipline, and
respect, without
the ego.
It’s time for
the parents to
understand that
the game of
baseball isn’t
life or death.
It’s having fun,
winning, and
getting
better…all
rolled into one.
It’s asking your
kid what he
wants, rather
than convincing
the child of
what you want.
It’s time for
the players to
play for nothing
more than
personal
satisfaction,
personal
development, and
a huge dose of
fun.
July of 2010
is going to
bring us an
event that will
take all of us
back in time,
“back in the
day”, when life
was fun and
innocent. We
will leave our
jobs and lives
and bills and
problems for a
few hours, and
go down to that
local ball field
and watch a
bunch of kids
have more fun
than we ever
imagined. And
while observing
this, we may
also be taken
back to our
childhood, back
to never, never
land, where we
all were safe
and secure and
could dream…..
Everyone, enjoy
the process.
Enjoy the Potter
Baseball Tour…..
It is baseball
the way it
should be.
It is baseball
the way it could
be.
It is baseball
the right way.
