PBO Minutes February 6, 2007
Meeting called to order by Todd @7:11 pm
There were seven board members present and three non-board members. Previous minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s report read and accepted by John, seconded by Jason.
League ReportsSenior Legion v Pine Forge will not have a team this year, Boyertown is not cooperating in giving them territory. v There will be five team divisions · first to third place – division winners · fourth to eight places will go by percentages v $25.00 fine if the website is not updated within 24 hours of the game v $25.00 fine if ejected from the game v $100.00 fine if ejected and use foul language v if you have a gripe about an umpire, send a letter to Strohecker v the umpire contract was approved by the members at rates of: · $54.00 per umpire in 2007 · $55.00 per umpire in 2008 · $56.00 per umpire in 2009 v fee and ˝ for both teams if they play with one umpire v $100.00 sign fee to find an umpire v umpires sign books before each game v ˝ fee each umpire if only 2 innings are played v if umpire shows and no game is played – pay $20.00 v only one umpire shows and there is no game, no fee is due from teams v next Senior Legion meetings: 2/25, 3/25, 4/22 – pre-registration of teams and 5/20 – rosters need to be turned in v schedules should be set next week v game schedules ASAP
Junior Legion v We will enter a Memorial Day tournament at a fee of $300.00, board will pay the registration fee, motion made by Jason, seconded by Bud
City County v games start 6/27 v wooden bats again this year v schedules in April
13 Year-old Prep Team v 12 teams – one big division, everyone plays everyone 1 time v West Lawn is added v they need a map of our territory by the March meeting – Todd will take care of this v games will start 5/29 and all games are to be done by 7/7 v play-offs will start 7/8 v play-offs – first place automatically bid to States v 7/17 starts the States v umpire fees will be $60.00 – 1 umpire and the home team pays v dues are $200.00 due March v 5/15 rosters are due v team pictures and birth certificates are needed v Pottstown will be hosting a Memorial Day tournament v next meeting 2/13 @7:00
Fundraising§ Jason had a call from Petrizzi, 4x8 signs will be $75.00 – accepted by Tom, seconded by John § John’s sign will remain up in return for doing website – accepted by Jason, seconded by Todd § Wal-Mart – no free tv for now – Jason will check into Aarons and Rent-a-Center to see if they could donate one § he is still checking with Steve’s Mower Shop for a tractor donation § Jason and Todd will also look into Passmore on Rt 100 to see if they would donate a tv in return for a sign § Ad booklet was not offered to parents this year § Jason will sell sign and chance to put their name in the Ad book – he has a few names to date § Todd will talk to Reed Dallas to see if they could contribute § Todd will take care of renewal banners § Jason will check others
Facilities meeting with district – Jason will go
We will host a Tournament – Fathers Day weekend – 6/15-6/17 - $400.00 to enter Trenton, NJ and Quakertown want to attend. Pottsville paid last year but did not get to play, we will invite them to enter and just pay the difference ($75.00) from what they paid last year There will be NO REFUNDS if someone backs out of the tournament. All monies will be due 5/1 – preliminary schedule – 4-5-or 6 teams. Total cost of $1080.00 for umpires at the most – playing 10 games. We need to play the umpires and school district – monies coming in from entrance fees and snack bar. Joel Blankenbiller’s nephew will do the PA system. We will try to have items to raffle off that day as well as a 50/50 and possibly a tv. Selling Legion hats as a possible fundraiser also.
§ Reading Phillies fundraiser – 6 tickets for $30.00. We would make $10.00 for each pack of tickets § Reading Phillies would take care of the billing § If we want to do this, we need to do ASAP
§ Wawa hoagie fundraiser – we pay $2.50 per coupon and sell for $3.50 a coupon making $1.00 per hoagie. § If we do this, we need to pay in advance § Bonnie Hains will run this § Bonnie will also talk to the parents about Redners Save-a-Tape
§ Kim was unable to connect with the person who coordinates this § Todd will have his son set it up since he works there
Any website changes, send to John as soon as you get them
Jim Madl missed the Sr. Babe Ruth meeting – he was unaware of it – he is now on the list and will be contacted for future meetings
New BusinessRight now we have 7 board members – we will increase it to 9 motioned by Jason, seconded by John Carl Beland will be a board member – motioned by Jason, seconded by John Bud Lightcap will be a board member – motioned by Jason, seconded by Chris
Should we offer incentives to attend meetings? Should coaches be automatic board members? Should Howard by a voting member? Yes, just cannot vote when player or coaching issues come up – motioned by John, seconded by Jason
To be eligible for the board a member must attend a minimum of 4 meetings out of 12 and be 18 years of older. A board member must attend at least ˝ of the meetings from October to September of each calendar year – motion made by Carl, seconded by Jason.
Elections will be in November, with nominations accepted in October.
Bill McGonigal’s $2000.00 check – he will take it back and reissue us one from his new business account – we will give him a sign, a space in the book and a team to sponsor –motion made by John and seconded by Jason.
Meeting with Upper Pottsgrove – Mr. Lane wants quotes for the fence from Todd by 2/13. If anyone has any ideas for quotes, let Todd know ASAP.
Meeting with Lower Pottsgrove – showed the plans for the new field at Sanatoga Park. If we hold a fundraiser, the will match the amount toward the fields. By 2008 the plan is to have limited use on the field – 3 days per week. It will be used primarily by the Senior Legion and High School teams. Tournaments and regionals can be held there also. The Snell Road fields are still in the plan. The Bleim Road property is owned by the school district - the township offered to purchase it.
Meeting with school district – Nester and Katzenmoyer both have not complaints about working with PBO
Registration FeesAt this time, all 16 year olds are paying $200.00 no matter where they play. A motion made by Carl and seconded by Jason will set our cut-off date for turning 16 to midnight, April 30th - $125.00 and after May 1st, $200.00.

To have legion pick first, motion made by Rick and seconded by Jason. Board vote – 5 yes, 1 no, 2 abstention. Board vote of Order of Drafting – 6 yes and 2 no.
