PBO Minutes

May 2, 2007

 

Meeting called to order by John @7:23

 

There were 6 board members and 4 non-board members present.

 

Jason accepted last months minutes, seconded by Rick.

Howard accepted the Treasurers report, seconded by Jason.

 

League Reports

Senior Legion

o       Start games on May 23rd.

o       Pottsgrove and Ringing Rocks fields cannot be used on June 8th due to the High School graduation or on June 2nd and 3rd due to Relay for Life.

 

Senior Babe Ruth

  • Nothing to report – they have 14 players on their roster

 

Junior Legion

  • Nothing to report

 

City County

  • Scheduled to be in a tournament on the Fourth of July

 

Babe Ruth

  • All players have been contacted.
  • First game is on May 19th.
  • They will play 16 games this season
  • Final roster due May 19th

 

13-Year Old Prep 

  • Nothing to report

 

Fundraising

  • Reading Phillies tickets can be ordered on the PBO website.
  • We now have Wawa hoagie coupons, Bonnie Hains will distribute them.
  • Basket Raffle will be in two weeks – Jason will make up flyers to hang in businesses.
  • Tom will take care of Render tapes
  • We have collected money for two more sign renewals.
  • PECO check was received.
  • May 23rd – Boston Market night – 6:00-10:00. Boston Market does everything, we can hand out coupons to everyone – even at the door. Howard is scheduling a September date also.
  • Kohl’s – 6 community events each year. They will come out and give us 15 hours of time and then they will donate $500.00 to the organization. We will use them at the snack bar during tournaments.

 

Snack Bar – each team will watch it during their games. We now have an ice cream freezer and new refrigerator in the snack bar.

 

Old Business

o       Problems with the draft? We will need to reassess the 16 year-old situation each year – add this to the By-Laws. (per Rick)

o       Fence is approved by the Upper Pottsgrove township. Poles are in at the pool field. The gate is out further than expected – out by left field. There is a part of the fence curled up in Center field – can that be fixed also?

o       L screens were priced – they are $250.00 – if the money is available, Jim has approval – all approved, none opposed -  to purchase.

 

New Business

  • Fathers Day Tournament
    • Wayne dropped out
    • Quakertown, West Chester, Mascara, and either Exeter or Antietam will be able to get in.
    • Dates will be June 15, 16 and 17
    • They need field maintence help during the tournament – the field needs to be hand drug and lined. Any help will be appreciated.
    • Trophies need the dates changed
  • Late Registrations

§        Lombardo – yes 4, abstain 2 – will play for City County

§        Mauk – will play for Babe Ruth

§        Fidelp – 15 year old from Bally – no 3, yes 1, abstain 2 – he will not play for us

  • Readdress organization after this season. Which leagues do we want to stay affiliated with? (per Jason)
  • Coaches MUST get approval BEFORE purchasing anything for their team.
  • Budgets
    • Joe – need budget for his team
      • umpire fees - $1600, only pay when the home team
      • $216 for shirts
      • $10 for hats

§        Tom – need budget for his team

·        up to $20 for shirts

·        up to $10 for hats

§        Todd will call everyone and discuss the budgets over the next two nights.

§        Todd will need sizes, names, numbers for each player – all coaches need to e-mail the information to Todd

  • Motion made by Bud to have Pat Madl’s registration fee returned – all approved, none opposed.
  • Rick has practice and game balls for all of the coaches.
