PBO Minutes

February 5, 2008

 

Meeting called to order by Todd @7:05

 

There were 9 board members and 4 non-board members present.

 

 Tom accepted last months minutes, seconded by Bud.

 Bud accepted the Treasurers report, seconded by Jason

 

Insurance policies due – March to end of February starting this year.

 

Motion to approve registration fees $250.00 and $175.00 with a discount of $25.00 if paid by the end of registration – motion by Bud, seconded by John. All approved.

 

League Reports

Senior Legion

  • 14 teams are on the regular schedule – they will play 45-50 games
  • All legion coaches MUST wear helmets when on the field – this goes for Senior Legion, Junior Legion and 13 Year Old Prep

 

Senior Babe

  • Jim sent his budget to Todd – he wants an L-screen. Call Pam P., she works at Longstreth and can get a 25% discount
  • All Sr. Babe head coaches need to take a certification course for $20.00. Motion that we pay for Jim to be certified – John, seconded by Chris
  • fees are $692.00
  • $56.00 for one umpire if have two – 1-1/2 cost if only one
  • next meeting is this month

 

***Registration fees are for ALL teams, each coach DOES NOT get monies from their players registration. ***

 

Todd wants all coaches budgets, after everything is paid, we can see what is left for liners, helmets (coaches), L-screens, etc.

 

Junior Legion

  • 24 games are scheduled
  • $429.00 in league fees, insurance is included
  • registration forms are on-line now
  • all coaches need helmets
  • no wooden bats – voted 8-1
  • umpire fees $45.00
  • there will be two All-Star games – Chester County and Twin County
  • next meeting February 20th
  • they need Pottsgrove’s census map – total population by township – if there are over 38,000 people in an area – territories need to be broken up

 

City County

  • nothing to report

 

Babe Ruth

  • nothing to report
  • we still need a coach

 

 

 

13 Year Old Prep

  • there will be 21 games playing East twice and West once
  • fees are $400.00
  • meeting on the 19th – need a check
  • ejections are added into the by-laws for players and coaches
  • start playing on May 27th – ending on July 4th with the All Star Game – East vs West at Pottstown – winner will play another game against South on July 7th
  • States – North Parkland H.S. on July 19th
  • in place of birth certificates, the players will have laminated cards with their birth dates on them to show their age

 

Fundraising

  • still no check from Boston Market
  • Basket Party – Jessica is getting everything together
  • Banner information to Howard – he needs to go over to the shed to see what needs to be renewed – Jason and Howard will coordinate this
  • possibly a Night at the Races in the fall along with a Beef and Beer????

 

New Business

  • Try-out dates: April 5th and 6th with a snow date of April 12th @ Pottsgrove High School
  • Fathers Day Tournament – Friday, June 13th, Saturday, June 14th, Sunday June 15th.
    • New Jersey, Kennet, Lancaster County, East Lawn, Rhode Island and Macon Georgia
    • Todd will hand in the paperwork for field usage
    • they will use the upper and lower fields
    • there will be 8 teams
    • two games on Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday
    • is  Lower Pottsgrove field available????
    • M. Katzenmoyer – concession stand and score board – ok
    • Nester’s secretary - $50.00 per field, per day and fee for concession stand
  • balls - $25.00 per dozen – we will need about 10-12 dozen
  • coaches – what they REALLY need and we will see what we can afford
  • Coaches Meeting in March so all coaches know what they need and where things are (must let Todd know when things like lime are out)
  • ALL coaches at the April meeting  to go over all policies, etc. – motion by Jason, seconded by Rick
  • George was contacted, he CANNOT promise a spot on his team – he can ask if they are coming out to sign up for PBO
  • card from the board for Fred Reim from Harleysville Bank
  • need to see a birth certificate for Shawn R. – family will pay at the end of March – father is coaching an AAU team at Pottstown with younger son – what about his fee for there?
